Trial consists of clearing natural or artificial obstacles without riders putting their feet on the ground. This may be practiced outside on natural terrains, or indoors on specially equipped artificial turfs. Each rider has
an allotted time to finish the course.

An "outdoor" trial competition takes place on a circuit containing established sections called zones, in which competitors clear the obstacles one at a time.

In trial, pneumatic tires must be able to provide the maximum amount of grip in conditions which can vary considerably from one zone to the next. Mud, rocks, riverbeds… Therefore, Michelin has developed products which meet the demands of the different kinds of terrains encountered by trial pros. The tire easily responds to the needs of the rider: precision while following the route, and excellent grip in crucial moments to overcome the most difficult obstacles.

Michelin has taken home 31 World TrialOutdoor Championship titles since 1981, and 11 straight World Trial Indoor Championship titles since 2002.
