Best Tyres I've ever used. WHY have they stopped making them in the sizes I need

HAiryrickDGW - November 1, 2020

I've had a set of these on my KLE500 for six years and getting on for 25,000 miles. Fantastic grip wet or dry on road. Okay on gravel/rocks but useless in mud or on sand. Rear is getting to the point of replacement and I find they have stopped making them in the size I need! WHY Michelin? Why????? If they did them in the correct size and speed rating I'd uses them on my 1200 as well

Highest mileage I’ve ever seen in 20 years of riding

4walls - October 29, 2020

I’ve read reviews on these tires being noisy. I needed a tire change while on a trip and these are what the shop had in stock that fit my bike (Honda VFR1200X). I took them straight to the freeway without earplugs in my helmet and could not hear what people were complaining about. Almost 19,000 kms later I got two punctures in the rear tire so had to replace it. I did run it for another 1,000 kms with plugs until I got home and I imagine it easily had another 2-3,000 kms life in it still. Decided to upsize the front and rear tires for various reasons. One reason was that the front tire actually wore out faster than the rear and the larger front tire size has a higher weight rating. The larger rear tire has a more rounded profile when mounted on my rim. (110/80R19 to 120/70 on the front and 150/70 up sized to 170/60R17 on the rear) Handling on the road is improved as I find this bike to turn into corners much easier now. Not that I couldn’t keep up to my friends on their sport touring bikes before, but the flatter profile of the stock sized tires had me wearing the tread right to the edges and it was physically more effort to lean the bike over that far in tight turns. The off road performance of these tires is good considering they are not a knobby. I wouldn’t go riding them in mud, but I’m always looking to get off the pavement even riding two up. I'm on my second set of Anakee 3’s and unless I decide to go with a more aggressive off road tire next time, these will be my first choice again.

disappointed with dirt handling

cuda - October 29, 2020

On soft gravel/ dirt roads not confidence inspiring at all!! If its rained watch out they slip and wander, hit some marble gravel in a corner, SCARY!! Mileage seems to be good on the rear; front is getting some strange wear patterns. 5000 miles on a 1200 gs ride about 85 15. will not get then again. BTW they slide on tar strips, especially wet ones!
